TPL has a number of research facilities:
  • An automated apparatus for the mf-TMA (the modulated force thermomechanical analysis) by which the speed of sound, elasticity moduli, and internal friction coefficient are measured in dependence on the temperature and time. The temperature range of the apparatus is from 25 °C to 1250 °C.
  • A horizontal push-rod dilatometer for a relative expansion measurement that enables one to measure samples 20 – 50 mm long in the temperature range from 25 °C to 1250 °C.
  • A horizontal push-rod dilatometer from the Netzsch company that enable one to measure coefficient of linear thermal expansion in the temperature range from 25 °C to 1400 °C with a different gas application.
  • DSC/DTA apparatus from the Netzsch company with the temperature range from 25 °C to 1400 °C and with a different gas application.
  • Laser flash apparatus from the Netzsch company for a thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity measurements of compact samples in the temperature range from 25 °C to 1400 °C.
  • An apparatus for measurements of the thermal conductivity of compact materials and powders by the hot-wire method. The temperature range of the apparatus is from 25 °C to 1000 °C.
  • An apparatus for measurements of thermal conductivity of solid isotropic materials by the flash method. The temperature range of the apparatus is from 25 °C to 600 °C.
  • A DSC and TGA/DTA apparatuses from the Mettler-Toledo company that enable one to carry out thermal analyses. The temperature range of the DSC apparatus is from – 70 °C to 600 °C and of the TGA/DTA apparatus from 25 °C to 1100 °C.The apparatuses are designed for powder samples up to 50 mg.
  • A Derivatograph apparatus for DTA and TGA thermal analyses up to 1050 °C of powder or compact samples up to 3 g. The apparatus was updated for operating and data recording by a computer.
  • A furnace with a programmable heating and cooling up to 1250 °C. The working volume of the furnace is 3 l. An opportunity of a fast firing.
  • An apparatus for the measurement of mechanical strength by the 3-point bending method in the temperature range from 25 °C to 1000 °C.
  • An apparatus for measurements of thermal fields and thermal conductivity of large samples calculated by the inverse methods. The temperature range is from 25 °C to 1000 °C.
An apparatus for measurements of direct electric conductivity of ceramic materials in the temperature range from 25 °C to 1000 °C.
